Upcoming December Events

  • December 4th to 7th:  Child Protective Services in our sanctuary from 7:45 am.
  • December 7th:  Girl Scouts Christmas dinner @ 6:30 pm.
  • December 8th:  Staff Christmas party @ 6:30 pm.
  • December 9th:  South Plains Food Bank workday from 9 am – 12 pm (noon).
  • December 10th:  “A Taste Of Oakwood” from 2 pm – 4 pm.
  • December 11th:  Goodie Plates delivered to our homebound.
  • December 15th:  Pre-school Christmas concert @ 10:30 am.
  • December 15th:  last day to mail in Year-end donations. (Otherwise, it will be put on your 2018 contributions report. If you prefer, go to our website and make your donation thru PayPal. Just click the Donate link.)
  • December 16th:  Choir Christmas party.
  • December 17th:  The Christmas Cantata “O Little Town Of Bethlehem”.  Combined family worship service @ 10:30 am.  It is up to each Sunday School class if they want to meet this day.  (Saturday, Dec. 16th, 2017 @10:30 am will be Cantata rehearsal and choir meal.)
  • December 17th:  Youth Christmas party @ 6 pm in Overton Hall.
  • December 20th:  “Here We Go a Caroling”. On Wednesday night, Dec 20th, we are going caroling to the homebound and to those in care facilities. Everyone is invited to go. Please be at church by 5:45 pm. We’ll be leaving at 6 pm.

December 21st 2017 – January 2nd 2018:  OFFICE CLOSED

  • December 24th: Combined family worship service @ 10:30 am. It is up to each Sunday School class if they want to meet this day.
  • December 24th:  Christmas Eve Service @ 6 pm.
  • December 25th:  MERRY CHRISTMAS to you wherever you may go.
  • December 31st:  Combined family worship service @ 10:30 am.  It is up to each Sunday School class if they want to meet this day.
  • January 1st, 2018:  HAPPY NEW YEAR!
  • January 3rd, 2018:  Back to work.  Church office open.

Mens Tuesday Morning Bible Study, The Circle Maker, Oakwood UMC Lubbock Texas Men’s Bible study, every Tuesday morning @ 6:30 am. Donuts and Coffee (maybe even kolaches). Meeting in Overton Hall (west end of Oakwood UMC Lubbock complex).  (Click For Details) This session, we are studying “The Circle Maker: Legend of Honi’s Prayers” by Pastor Mark Batterson. Here’s a quote from that book:
