Praise The Lord

Over the many years as a Christian, I have heard people say they pray and pray and the Lord never seems to answer. Maybe they are praying for the wrong things, as the Lord says He will supply our needs but not our wants. Or maybe they do receive a blessing and do not recognize it as a blessing. Then again as a servant of the Lord, as one of His children, and as a Disciple of the Lord, we may have failed to give praise to our Lord Jesus Christ for the blessings we have seen showered on us?

It says in the Bible. Nehemiah 9;5. “Stand up and bless the LORD your God for ever and ever, and blessed be the glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.” And Psalm 63;5 tell us, “My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips.

Yes, prayer without Praise is very limiting. When we Pray to the Lord to lay His hands on our trials and tribulations, we are thinking of our needs and Praying the Lord will answer us. Our needs seem to overwhelm our Prayer as we look to our gracious and loving Lord Jesus Christ for his mercy.

However, when we Praise the Lord we show our thanks for all He has done for us by giving us Material Blessings, Physical Blessings and Spiritual Blessings. We can not Praise Him enough and our Lord loves to hear from us as He is our Christian Father.

I recall living as a child during the Great Depression Years and my parents were really struggling to raise four children. We would attend church and dad always gave an offering in the collection plate. My brothers and I may have had holes in our shoes with cardboard liners keeping the pebbles out but our needs were not the priority. Dad would take us to “Jake and Bills” a clothing store and get us nice “Sunday Go Meeting Shoes” when school started in the fall. If we wore them out that was our problem until my parents had extra money to buy us another pair. Then we would return to see dad’s Jewish friends and get another pair of shoes. And were they shoes, we called them “Clod Hoppers ” with very thick soles which we would not wear out very soon. But we thanked our dad even knowing we would stand out among our classmates with those ugly shoes. Our father, with his 10th grade education, carried us through the rough times and rewarded us in later life when he became a millionaire as the Lord blessed him for his faithfulness. Raising our family as God-fearing Christians was my fathers greatest gift to us.

When the Lord answers our prayers, even though they may not be the answers we want to hear at the time, remember the Lord is looking out for our best interest, as He loves us. Let us Praise our Lord Jesus for everything that comes our way as He has the roadmap of our life.

Trust this Sunday we will all be in the church of our choice singing and praising our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

God Bless America
